ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Days after calling for an outside review of Cornell policies, Gov. Kathy Hocul says the university has agreed to an independent investigation.

Hochul posted a video Wednesday on social media, saying accountability is key.

“I spoke with Cornell’s president today, and the university has agreed to bring in outside counsel for an independent investigation,” Hochul said.

The Tompkins County District Attorney’s office has also re-opened their case. In the initial investigation, Cornell said some of the 7 male students allegedly involved were sanctioned, which included suspensions and expulsions.
