ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County is preparing voters for the upcoming election.

Earlier this week, the county launched the first of a five-part public information series leading up to the general election in November.

The info released on the county website each week will explain how local elections are administered and protected, while also helping voters meet key deadlines. This week’s topic deals with voter registration and status.

Over the next four Mondays, the county will distribute additional information on who runs local elections and protects voting equipment, how ballots are secured and counted, how the county prepares for disruptions, and what to expect when you vote.

The county rolled out a similar information series about the budget process in August.

The Understanding Your Local Elections series is available here.
