BINGHAMTON, NY (607NewsNow) – We’re learning more about a measles case in Broome County.
Test results from the New York State Department of Health’s (NYSDOH) Wadsworth Laboratory came back positive for the individual that was hospitalized over the weekend.
The patient, who is not a resident of Broome County, was admitted with symptoms on September 26. However, they have since been discharged, and because they are not a resident, Broome County will report zero confirmed cases to the NYSDOH.
Officials have reportedly completed contact tracing and provided treatment or follow up as needed for people at the hospital who may have been exposed.
“The Broome County Health Department team did an excellent job working with the hospital system, notifying residents and getting care to help reduce spread in our community,” said Director of Broome County Public Health, Olivia Catalano.
You can track the number of cases across the state with the NYSDOH’s measles dashboard.
