CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Cortland man is facing a felony.
The Cortland Police Department was called to Church Street in the early morning hours on Thursday for the reported theft of equipment. Investigators say the suspects broke into a locked maintenance room in the basement of the building and stole power tools and other equipment.
Matthew Barber, 36, was arrested Tuesday and charged with burglary and misdemeanors of petit larceny and conspiracy. Barber is scheduled to appear in court on January 31.
Cortland PD says 40-year-old Jodi Hamilton, of Cortland, was present during the crime and had previously been issued a notice barring her from the property. Hamilton is charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass.
The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are pending.
