LANSING, NY (607NewsNow) – A local student athlete is a finalist in a Tri-State area contest.
Lansing’s Logan Andress is a Week 1 nominee for the 2026 USA Football Heart of a Giant Award, presented by the Hospital for Special Surgery and New York Giants.
All candidates were nominated by their coaching staff for their commitment, teamwork, will, character, and dedication both on and off the field. Andress is a two-year captain and two-year starter for the Bobcats, as well as a Section IV All-Star and honor roll student. Coaches note his leadership and support of his teammates, whether in the weight room, tutoring, or taking the time to sit down with a struggling player.
Andress’ commitment extends beyond Sobus Field, where he volunteers with youth football, serves as a referee for girls flag football, and supports school fundraisers.
At the conclusion of the competition, there will be 11 total honorees; six weekly finalists and five honorable mentions. Each finalist will receive a $1,000 equipment grant for their high school football program. The grand prize winner will receive an additional $9,000 for their program and will be honored on the field at a Giants game this season.
