UPDATE 3:50 P.M. – Additional details have surfaced in the Ithaca Police Department police report.
According to IPD, a witness reported the male was Asian, and holding a semi-automatic style handgun. IPD says when one witness confronted the male he ran Northeast on University Ave and then went in an unknown direction. IPD asks anyone in the area at the time of the call who may have witnessed the subject in question to contact them at (607)-272-3245.
ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Authorities in Ithaca say a report of a man with a gun near campus is “unfounded at this time.”
Cornell and Ithaca Police responded to the 600 block of University Avenue around 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday after receiving a report of a person displaying a pistol. The subject was described as a man wearing all-black clothing, and a hoodie, and reportedly left in an unknown location. Authorities searched the area and found no evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
Cornell Police ask anyone who sees anything or has information to contact the Public Safety Communications Center at (607)-255-1111 immediately and do not approach the person.
