ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Across New York, you’ll be seeing more trooper vehicles on the road this week.

A 6-day campaign called Fall Safe Speed launches today. According to State Police, “Speeding is listed as a contributing factor in nearly one third of all fatal crashes in New York State. According to the Institute for Traffic Safety Management and Research (ITSMR) at the University at Albany, in 2024 there were a total of 315 fatal crashes and 12,232 people were injured in New York State in speed-related crashes.”

During the operation, authorities will also watch for drivers violating the state’s “Move Over” law. The effort will last through this Sunday, Sept. 27.
