HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) – The Village of Homer’s treasurer is stepping down.
On July 28, Mary-Ellen Stevens submitted her letter of resignation to the Village Board of Trustees.
According to the Cortland Standard, Stevens, who commutes from 30 minutes away, found a job closer to home, citing an easier drive during rough winters. Her last day is August 7, but she will continue some contract work while the village searches for a permanent replacement.
In the meantime, Village Clerk Dan Egnor has been named interim treasurer.
