CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – Cortland is getting funding through SUNY’s Outdoors for All Program.

SUNY Cortland has received an $8,000 grant to improve the Hoxie Gorge Nature Preserve, part of the school’s William H. Parks Family Center for Environmental and Outdoor Education.

School officials say the money will help add a new bathroom and sanitation facility at a campsite, as well as support improvements and signage on the arboretum trail loop.

The college has maintained Hoxie Gorge for over 50 years. It is used as a unique outdoor classroom for Biological Sciences, Geology, and Recreation, Parks and Leisure Studies.

The work is expected to be complete by the end of the academic year. Learn more from SUNY Cortland here.
