CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — After Cortland Mayor Scott Steve’s tentative budget for the 2027 fiscal year included cuts to the Cortland Youth Bureau (CYB) Rec Center, city councilmembers voted to retain the youth services specialist position.
According to the Cortland Standard, a meeting on Monday, October 26th, saw several members of the community giving testimonials as to why the youth services specialist position at the CYB Rec Center shouldn’t be cut. CYB Rec Center employee Matt Marcey and CYB advocates pled their case, which led to restoration of the position in the budget for $47,142, including relief staff and FICA increases of $8,567.50, the Cortland Standard reports.
