ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Second Wind Cottages will be allowed to proceed with an environmental review of their proposal to house homeless men in Newfield.
After over an hour of debate Tuesday evening, Tompkins County legislators voted eight to six in favor of permitting the SEQR to move ahead. The proposal replaces Second Wind’s original application for over $510,000 from the Community Recovery Fund to build campsites. Shortly after that approval, the Newfield Town Board voted on a two-year moratorium on building campsites.
The revised application seeks to build 12 more cottages at their location in Newfield.
