NEWFIELD, N.Y. (WHCU) – A probation check has led to multiple charges for a Newfield man.
Rayquan Brooks, who is currently on probation for felony attempted criminal possession of a weapon, was located around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday by Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) task force and probation officers.
Authorities allegedly found methamphetamine, heroin, and pills in the 23-year-old Brooks’ vehicle. Brooks was arrested and taken to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.
A subsequent search was conducted at Brooks’ home in Newfield, where police say he had a loaded Springfield AR-15 rifle with a 30-round magazine. Brooks is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of drug possession, all felonies. He is additionally charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Brooks was arraigned and is being held in Tompkins County Jail with no bail.
