ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Tompkins County is trying to get financial assistance from New York State.
Tompkins County Administrator Korsah Akumfi tells 607 News Now an application was submitted last week in Albany for funding from the Homeless Housing and Assistance Program, also known as HHAP.
The county purchased 227 Cherry Street in 2024 to build a shelter, which Akumfi says will fill a temporary housing gap.
Tompkins County should hear back from the state about the funding application over the next couple of months, Akumfi said.
