ELMIRA, N.Y. (WHCU) – An Elmira man is under arrest after allegedly pointing a gun at his neighbors.
Authorities were called to Main Street just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday for a report of two men making threats with weapons. Elmira Police located a man matching the description of the person reportedly swinging a knife and he was taken into custody without incident.
However, Elmira PD had to shut down the road after locating the other suspect through an open window on the second floor of a residence. A 40-minute standoff ensued with 45-year-old Benjamin Luisi, who surrendered. Elmira Police executed a search and recovered multiple guns, including the one described in the original call to the police.
Luisi is charged with felony weapons possession. The other man, 33-year-old David Haynes, of Elmira, is charged with misdemeanor menacing. Elmira PD says more charges are pending.
