UPDATE: An attempted murder charge is now a murder charge in Steuben County.
State Police say the 54-year-old victim of the assault that took place in the town of Erwin on Tuesday has died from her injuries. Authorities have identified her as Heather Moran, the sister of the alleged offender. They say she was struck in the head multiple times with a cast-iron frying pan. 59-year-old John Marvin II, of Painted Post, is now charged with second-degree murder. Marvin is being held in Steuben County Jail.
ERWIN, N.Y. (WHCU) – One person is behind bars, and another is in critical condition after an alleged altercation in Steuben County.
State Police and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Victory Highway in the town of Erwin around 5 p.m. on Tuesday for a reported assault. When authorities arrived, they found a 54-year-old victim suffering from multiple injuries. That person was airlifted to Robert Packer Trauma Center.
John Marvin II, of Painted Post, was arrested without incident. The 59-year-old is charged with attempted murder and felony assault. Marvin is being held in Steuben County Jail without bail. The investigation is ongoing.
