ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – A new indoor sports facility is coming to Cornell University.
The Cornell Chronicle reports the new facility will be called Meinig Fieldhouse in honor of former Board of Trustees chair and school supporter Peter Meinig. The 92,000-square-foot complex will be located behind Bartels Hall and will include a rebuilding of the field hockey facility. The project is set to break ground in the fall of 2024 with a planned opening in 2026.

With a $50 million dollar gift in 2015, the class of ’61 grad and his wife founded the Nancy E. and Peter C. Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering. Meinig passed away in 2017.
