ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Cornell graduate has made history.

Claudia Goldin ’67 Credit: Cornell University

The Cornell Chronicle reports that class of ’67 grad Claudia Goldin has won the Nobel Prize in Economics, making her just the third woman to win for economics, and the first to win individually. Goldin received the honor for her study of women’s progress in the workforce, including modern reasons for the gender wage gap.

Goldin is currently the Henry Lee Professor of Economics at Harvard University. She joins more than 50 other Cornellians to have won a Nobel Prize.
