CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — In Cortland, a jury has found a man guilty of sex crimes. 

Cortland County District Attorney Patrick Perfetti says Nicholas Carew was convicted Friday of criminal sex act and course of sexual conduct, which are felonies. Perfetti says that between 2012 and 2013, Carew sexually abused the victim several times. The victim first came forward several years later.

“The victim in this case originally disclosed the abuse in 2015, alleging that such abuse occurred on several different dates between 2012 and 2013. Upon a redisclosure in 2024 and a refreshed examination of the evidence, law enforcement and prosecutors determined that a prosecution was viable,” Perfetti said.

Carew faces decades behind bars and mandatory sex offender registry when he’s sentenced in April.
