ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Ithaca City School District is trying to ease worries about immigration.
Superintendent Dr. Luvelle Brown says all children, including the undocumented, are guaranteed the right to attend public school under the Constitution. Brown adds families are not required to provide their immigration status to attend schools in the district and that the district will never start contact with federal immigration authorities about student information. Social workers and counselors are also available for students feeling worried about federal policy changes.
