OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) — An Owego-area non-profit organization is getting a donation from a local business leader.

Tioga County Rural Ministry has received a check for $102,600 from Upstate Shredding CEO Adam Weitsman, who says the need for help is getting stronger.

“Our community has been so hard hit, especially with the rising cost of living and the economic pressures so many families are facing right now. I want to help in any way I can,” Weitsman said.

Executive Director Mary O’Brien says the donation comes as more residents working full-time are struggling to pay their bills, and requests for financial help have reached an urgent level.

“This donation speaks volumes about Adam and his compassion for this community,” O’Brien said. “He not only understands the challenges local families are facing but responds in a meaningful way when help is needed most.”

Weitsman delivered the personal check on Monday, July 6.
