ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — A new program is joining the ranks of WHCU’s weekday lineup.

Beginning on Monday, Jan. 13, Our American Stories will air weekdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Hosted by Lee Habeeb, the program tells the story of America to Americans.

“We’re excited to bring Our American Stories to our weekday schedule,” WHCU Program Director Joe Salzone said. “Since adding Our American Stories to our Sunday morning last year, the feedback has been strong. People have enjoyed Lee and his team’s unique storytelling ability, and it’s been a fresh addition to our programming,” Salzone added.

Syndicated nationally by Premiere Networks, each episode of Our American Stories “is a journey through the diverse and inspiring stories that define our nation. Positive stories about generosity and courage, resilience and redemption, faith and love. Stories about the past and present. And stories about ordinary Americans who do extraordinary things each and every day. Stories from our listeners about their lives. And their history. From the triumphs of everyday heroes to the fascinating tales of historical figures, Our American Stories captures the essence of what it means to be American.”

Habeeb describes his show as telling stories that aren’t being told. And that, Salzone says, is crucial at a time of hyper-partisan politics.

“I hear from listeners all the time you want to hear more positivity. We’re happy to bring them just that six days a week,” Salzone said.

The programming change was made after Hugh Hewitt announced a move to afternoons, which also begins on Jan. 13. “Sean Hannity continues to be the preferred show in the 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. [timeslot] for us and we will continue to carry that,” Cayuga Media Group President Chet Osadchey said. “But Our American Stories is a wonderful addition to our weekday line up. Each segment is truly an audio “show” and will prove to be destination listening for audiences.  I love the wide array of topics covered and it will be positive and entertaining.  We expect it to do very well.”

We hope you’ll enjoy listening to Our American Stories, which will immediately follow Ithaca’s Morning News on 870AM/97.7FM News Talk WHCU.
