ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The clock is ticking for the Vecino Group.

Tompkins County Environmental Health Director Skip Parr tells 607 News Now the Asteri Ithaca building operators have until Thursday, Apr. 30 to fully implement a solid waste management plan.

The Tompkins County Board of Health issued Vecino a $40,000 penalty earlier this month for violations dating back nearly two years. Parr says in May, the Environmental Health office will keep a closer eye on Asteri operators.

However, Parr also tells us about signs of progress.

Parr tells us he’s hopeful the Vecino Group will stay on top of things.

An order to vacate was issued for residents of Asteri Ithaca on March 4, which was later lifted about two weeks later.
