CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) – A Cortland woman is accused of multiple credit card thefts.
Crystal Towers, 36, was initially arrested on August 23, 2024, after police said she stole items from a vehicle on Groton Avenue earlier that day. Detectives obtained surveillance footage of the suspect using credit cards around the city. Towers was released on appearance tickets.
After further investigation, authorities determined Towers was the primary suspect in a similar crime on Evergreen Street that happened on June 23, 2024. Cortland Police arrested Towers again on Thursday, August 29. Towers allegedly resisted arrest and had fentanyl on her.
She is charged with 10 felony counts of possession of stolen property, 5 felony counts of identity theft, and 9 misdemeanors including resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Towers was remanded to the custody of the Cortland County Jail and bail was set at an undisclosed amount. She is scheduled to appear in Cortland City Court on September 18, 2024.
