WATKINS GLEN, NY (CortacaToday) – A dog is alive thanks to the Watkins Glen Fire Department.
Just after 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2024, firefighters were dispatched to 11th Street in the village for a report of smoke coming from the rear of a residence. Nobody was home, but flames were located on the first floor as well as an unresponsive dog.

Personnel from Watkins Glen FD were able to rescue the pup safely and revive it with CPR and oxygen. As of Sunday, the dog was getting medical attention from a local vet. Watkins Glen FD and Montour Falls Fire Department made quick work of the blaze, limiting it to the original burned area.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by investigators with the Schuyler County Emergency Management Office.
