WAVERLY, NY (CortacaToday) – A 5-year-old Waverly boy is recovering after falling 30 feet in a park.
Waverly Police received a 911 call around 10:45 a.m. on Thursday that a child had fallen down an embankment near the waterfall at Waverly Glen Park. Investigators say the boy ran from his mother while she was attending to her other children in the park. Waverly PD, the Waverly-Barton Fire Department, and Greater Valley EMS responded to the scene, but no rescue efforts were needed.
The boy was conscious and sitting with his mother when authorities arrived, though he did suffer a cut to his head on a rock during his fall. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
