ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — Matt Cosgrove, part of Q-Country 103.7’s “Up and Coming Artist Series”, is set to perform a free show at 1:00 p.m. at Ithaca Beer Company on June 29th.

Cosgrove, a native of Saratoga, NY, has been performing in bars and clubs since he was 15 years old. Inspired by 90s rock bands such as Pantera and Korn as well as more modern country artists such as Sam Hunt and Morgan Wallen, Cosgrove’s music fuses together chugging chord progressions and expressive guitar solos with the imagery and story-telling country music is known for.

His newest single, “Whiskey Rain”, is one that paints a clear picture for the listener. This single, as well as his new EP which is set to release in mid-August of this year, differs from music he has put out previously. His new music has been professionally recorded in Nashville, where Cosgrove gained new experiences collaborating with other professional musicians and seeing what it’s like to share the creative process of his song writing.

Cosgrove briefly studied guitar and voice at Schenectady County Community College, which he says has given him an edge as a performer. Being able to hone in on his pre-existing vocal and guitar skills has enhanced not only his song writing abilities, but the show he can provide on stage.

Being on stage is what matters most to Cosgrove, saying that he wishes for his music to “have the effect on people music has on me”. During his live shows, he likes to see how the songs fare, adjusting and trying new things out as he goes. The rawness of live performances is something he has a deep appreciation for, as it allows him to really feel out the music.

“Whether it’s 5 people or 500 people, there’s no feeling like it”, Cosgrove says about performing. Being able to connect with people through music is the most important part of his career as well as his biggest aspiration. Going out on the road and getting to share his music with other people is what is has always been about for Cosgrove, as he finds that to be the most gratifying aspect of being an artist.

In addition to the new EP dropping this August, Cosgrove will have another single released on July 12th of this year.
