CORTLAND, NY (WHCU) – The New York State Department of Health has issued a public health alert about a potentially deadly batch of drugs in Central New York.
The Cortland County Health Department says recently tested drugs in the area came up positive for fentanyl, xylazine, heroin, and carfentanil. Carfentanil is thought to be 100 times stronger than fentanyl. The samples were tested from bags labeled “Super Mario.”
If you or someone you know uses opioids, you are strongly urged to test them before using, don’t use alone, and have naloxone available.
