ITHACA, NY (WHCU) — Staff reductions in the Ithaca City School District are possible under new budget plans.
The first plan calls for a tax levy increase of about 2.8 percent and 58 job reductions districtwide. The other plan freezes spending and tax bills but drops 87 positions. District officials say current job vacancies would remain unfilled, but layoffs are likely.
The Ithaca Voice reports a decision must be made by Tuesday before it’s presented to voters in a budget re-vote on the 18th.
A public hearing at Ithaca High School is being held June 11 at 5:30 p.m.
