CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – The Cortland County Family YMCA’s new Wellness Center is open.
On Nov. 2, the Y is celebrating its recently renovated facility with an open house and grand opening event.
Visitors have free access to the full building all day, including the Wellness Center. Officials say the new space will allow the Y to expand its programs, including those for cancer survivors, women, and older adults.
All visitors will also receive a week-long guest pass, and anyone who joins today will receive a special offer.
“Investing in the health of our neighbors is central to the YMCA’s mission, and that commitment includes people of every age, ability, background, and level of fitness experience,” said YMCA Regional Executive Director Gunnar Madison. “Whether someone is just beginning their wellness journey or has trained for years, they deserve a place where they belong and can pursue goals that matter to them. This investment puts our mission into action, creating more opportunities for people to build strength, regain confidence, and support one another. Its lasting value will be measured in the lives we help strengthen and the community we bring together.”
The renovation creates a more spacious, versatile training environment with new flooring, turf, and strength equipment. The equipment includes Smith machines, cable crossover machines, lifting racks, dumbbells, glute-training machines, and easy-to-adjust weight stack machines.

The new functional fitness equipment includes sleds, wheelbarrows, battle ropes, slam balls, combat bags, resistance bands, and other accessories designed to develop the strength, balance, coordination, and endurance people use in everyday life.
A grand opening reception takes place from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.
