ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The president of Cornell says more suspensions are expected for students demonstrating against university policy.

President Martha Pollack released a statement Monday, after a group of protestors created an encampment Thursday on the Arts Quad. Some students have already been suspended, and Pollack says offers to relocate the demonstrators to an area that complies with school rules have been repeatedly rejected.

Pollack adds the encampment is diverting public safety and other resources away from other campus matters.
