ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – The City of Ithaca is congratulating one of its own.

On September 21, the Ithaca Fire Department (IFD) announced a promotion for Assistant Chief Rob Shepherd.

Shepherd has been named deputy chief, effective this past Sunday. Chief Mike Moody says Shepherd’s leadership, professionalism, and dedication have had a tremendous impact on the department and community.

“He will be an important part of our efforts to restructure the Fire Prevention Bureau and expand its role in comprehensive emergency management.”

Shepherd, who also recently served as Fire Marshal, will contribute to IFD’s continued effort to strengthen fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and comprehensive emergency management.

“Shep represents the young, talented officers within our organization who are ready to step forward and lead,” added Moody. “I am confident that his leadership will play an important role in the continued success and future of the Ithaca Fire Department.”
