ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County health officials want to rule out rabies in a dog bite.
On May 1, a person was bitten by a 12-week-old black pug puppy named Stevie at the Ithaca Children’s Garden around 4 p.m.
The person says Stevie was chewing on their hand while they pet him, and they didn’t realize their skin was broken until later that day. Stevie was accompanied by a white woman in her 60s or 70s, who also had a black lab named Niro.
If Stevie has all of his shots, it will rule out post-rabies exposure treatment.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Tompkins County Environmental Health Division at (607) 274-6688.
