ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — New public groups are being created in Ithaca.

Mayor Robert Cantelmo says four ad hoc committees will help to address some of the city’s biggest challenges. The groups will focus on housing quality and affordability, arts and culture, business and workforce development, and transportation and transit.

“Ithaca is full of people with passion, ideas, and a deep commitment to our city’s future,” Cantelmo said. “City boards and commissions play an important role in shaping policy, and while our Charter Revision Commissioners are working diligently on strengthening those structures, we cannot wait to address urgent challenges. If you see opportunities for progress in housing, transportation, or economic development, and want to help move solutions forward, I encourage you to get involved.”

The city is accepting applications from Ithacans interested in serving on a committee through June 1.
