WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WHCU) – Officials in Watkins Glen will have more time to look at a proposed gravel pit expansion.

Mayor Laurie Denardo says she received a call from the DEC saying the public comment period for the Padua Ridge expansion has been extended until April 13. Denardo has requested the notification in writing. The extension will give the Village Board of Trustees and other stakeholders more time to review the project that borders Watkins Glen State Park. The expansion would see the gravel pit grow from 14 to 75 acres.
