ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Ithaca College honoring Dr Martin Luther King with its annual concert.

The event is free and open to the public. It features student ensembles from the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers, and alumni and faculty performing spirituals, gospel, jazz, and popular music.

“It has been an honor for me to direct the annual celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at Ithaca College for over 15 years,” said Baruch Whitehead, director of the concert and associate professor of music education. “This year’s concert is filled with thought-provoking, exhilarating, and incredible performances. Dr. King gave his live for all Americans, and it is up to us to continue his legacy every day of the year.”

A pre-concert lecture will be held in the Whalen Center’s Hockett Family Recital Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The concert happens at Ford Hall in the Whalen Center for Music at 7:30 p.m. Streaming is also available.
