ALBANY, N.Y. (WHCU) — A conservative Congresswoman in the North Country is upset over a decision in Maine.
In a statement, Representative Elise Stefanik describes a decision by Maine’s secretary of state to toss former President Donald Trump off the primary ballot as ‘election interference’ and ‘illegal.’ She’s calling on the US Supreme Court to step in.
Trump, the Republican frontrunner for president in 2024, was recently declared invalid to appear on Colorado’s primary ballot. CBS News reports that the ruling has been reversed temporarily while it’s appealed.
Officials in both states cite Trump’s role in the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the US Capitol.
