SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Tioga County man will spend at least a decade in federal prison.
David VanHousen, formerly of Newark Valley, pled guilty to possession of child pornography on Tuesday. The 54-year-old admitted to possessing photos and videos on a contraband phone while committed at a Central New York psychiatric center following several other sex offenses and child pornography-related crimes. In 2001, VaHousen was convicted of sexual misconduct and rape in New York State and transportation of child pornography in federal court.
VanHousen will face a minimum of ten years and a maximum of 20 years at his sentencing hearing scheduled for April 2024. VanHousen is additionally facing up to a $250,000 fine. When he gets out of prison, he’ll be subject to a term of supervised release of 5 years to life.
