SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WHCU) – Cornell junior Patrick Dai awaits a response from the government.

A judge ordered the 21-year-old to remain in jail last month while he awaits trial for allegedly making violent threats towards Jewish people on campus. Dai is charged with a single count of threatening to kill or injure another using interstate communications. The Syracuse Post-Standard reports Dai’s attorney filed an appeal on Monday, arguing that his crime doesn’t qualify for pre-trial detention, and he’s willing to submit to electric monitoring. The government must respond to the appeal by Monday.
