CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) — Scott Steve has won re-election as mayor of Cortland.

Steve will serve a four-year term. He previously served two years after Brian Tobin announced in 2021 that he would not seek reelection. Steve was running against Luke Stephenson, who appeared on the ballot on the independent Emergent line.
In Cortland County, several propositions were on the ballot. A majority of voters said yes to redistricting, which means the legislature will go from 17 to 15 seats beginning in January 2028. Cortlandville voters rejected a measure to eliminate the town’s second justice position. In Cincinnatus, the town supervisor and town clerk will become four-year terms. Charitable groups in Virgil will be allowed to run raffles to raise money.
Results will be certified by the Cortland County Board of Elections next week.
