ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Cornell is increasing security amid a backlash over comments reportedly made by a history professor.

The university is adding more police on campus. This past weekend, Professor Russell Rickford reportedly described the Hamas attack on Israel as ‘exhilarating’ and ‘energizing,’ which were condemned by Cornell President Martha Pollack.

It’s not clear if Rickford will face any punishment, though Pollack says his comments are being reviewed.
