OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) – Tioga County is preparing to say goodbye to a longtime official.
On January 13, lawmakers formally recognized the career of Community Services Director Lori Morgan at the Tioga County Legislature meeting.
Morgan began working for Tioga County in 2002 as a clinical social worker and held several roles before advancing to her current position in the Department of Mental Hygiene in 2012.
“Lori Morgan’s career reflects the very best of Tioga County public service,” said Tioga County Administrator Jackson Bailey II. “Lori has consistently identified emerging needs in the community and turned them into real, measurable improvements in services. Her leadership strengthened Tioga County’s mental hygiene system and left it better prepared to serve residents for years to come.”
County officials say Morgan accomplished many things during her tenure, most notably, the implementation of an electronic health records system, the development of the Tioga County Suicide Prevention Coalition, and the rebuilding of the Tioga County Advocacy, Support & Prevention Coalition, which helped coordinate a county-wide response to substance use challenges.
Last year, she secured NYS Office of Mental Health funding and designation for a Mobile Crisis Program.
Morgan’s last day is January 29.
