OWEGO, N.Y. (WHCU) — A state of emergency in Tioga County will remain active for at least another few weeks.

Legislative Chair Martha Sauerbrey has extended the order through November 7. It was first activated in May over concerns about migrants from the Southern border re-locating to the area.

Sauerbrey says the countywide housing crisis means they are incapable of housing asylum seekers.
