TRUXTON, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Cortland County man has been charged with multiple felonies, including second-degree attempted murder.
Cortland County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 37-year-old Matthew Clark, of Truxton, Thursday night after an investigation into a recent fire in the Town of Cortlandville. On September 17, Clark allegedly barricaded the door to a residence with two people inside and set it on fire because of a property dispute. He fled the scene and was unable to be located. An arrest warrant was granted for arson. The Cortland County Grand Jury added three indictments a few days later.
On Thursday, September 28, a Superior Court Warrant of Arrest was signed, and Clark was taken into custody in Truxton after a brief foot pursuit. He allegedly had a small amount of drugs on him at the time.
Clark is charged with felonies of second-degree murder, arson, criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment. He is additionally charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Clark is awaiting arraignment.
