ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A former Cornell student could spend up to 25 years behind bars.
On November 24, Bilguun Enkhbayar was convicted by a jury of first-degree rape and second-degree burglary.
According to the Tompkins County District Attorney’s Office, the indictment charged the 22-year-old with “knowingly and unlawfully entering a dorm room with the intent to commit a crime therein and engaging in vaginal sexual contact with another person who was incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless” on September 1, 2024. He was arrested on September 12, 2024.
Assistant District Attorney Emily Perks Quinlan prosecuted the case with the assistance of Assistant District Attorney Carmen Lopez. The trial lasted one week.

Enkhbayar will be sentenced on February 24, 2026, at 1:3o p.m.
