OWEGO, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Tioga County Legislature has adopted a hotel-motel tax.

Legislators say it will help the county’s economy, partly through promoting tourism to Tioga County. It will go into effect on December 1. Legislators will re-visit the resolution at heir worksession meeting next Thursday.

The legislature also approved creating the position of county administrator during Tuesday’s meeting. A search will begin early next year.
