ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — A committee at Ithaca City Hall is taking a fresh look at a policy.
The Ithaca Voice reports the Planning and Economic Development Committee has decided to renew talks about a homeless camping policy. A working group began crafting the policy last year and unveiled its final work last month, but the committee agreed Wednesday that it would lack support of the full Common Council.
The policy would likely put an end to ‘the jungle,’ Ithaca’s homeless encampment, in its current size. The committee’s next scheduled meeting is September 20.
