ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — TCAT is launching a new system to collect fares.

Fareboxes have been installed on buses in the transit company, which TCAT leaders say will make riding a bus much easier. The new system will accept exact change,
Tcards and FreeRyde cards, but forms of payment won’t be available until the fall.

The system replaces TCAT’s long-running fare collection method, which was first introduced in 2009.
