ELMIRA, NY (607NewsNow) — A Chemung County inmate faces a new charge.

Deputies say Jeffrey Savoy struck another inmate in the face Sunday with a jail-issued electronic tablet during an argument. Savoy, who’s 60, was charged with felony assault. The injured person required medical attention by nursing staff in the Chemung County Jail.

Meanwhile, a Steuben County Jail inmate is accused of assault. 43-year-old Michael Cragg, Jr. struck a corrections officer in the face on Sunday, which resulted in an injury. Cragg is charged with felony assault and was returned to the county jail following arraignment.

The injured officer was treated and released at a local medical facility.
