CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – A Cortland man is charged with multiple sex crimes.
On July 3, State Police arrested Calvin Verny-Rasmussen after an investigation into a cyber tip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip claimed child sex abuse material was being shared online.
Troopers say the 26-year-old was found to have images “consistent with child exploitation,” and inappropriately touched a child under the age of 11.
Verny-Rasmussen is charged with sexual abuse, promoting sexual performance of a child, and possessing a sexual performance by a child, all felonies. He is additionally charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.
Verny-Rasmussen was remanded to Cortland County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
