TRUMANSBURG, NY (607NewsNow) — From July 13th to July 16th, the Grassroots Culture Camp will precede the Grassroots Festival for the 8th year.

Four days of workshops, dinners, and dances, Culture Camp is an immersive experience for those who want to get more involved in Grassroots. A 4-day pass that includes all access to the workshops, dinners, and dances costs $210 per person.

Buying a pass for all four days is not the only option, participants can choose to come for one day, just for a dinner or dance, or a combination of activities.

“There’s something for everyone who’s interested in learning. You get to sit with your favorite musicians that come from all over to perform at the festival and learn directly from them and play alongside them. Culture comes to you, which is a very unique opportunity,” says Tara Nevins, founder of the Grassroots Festival.

Culture Camp takes place on the same Trumansburg Fairgrounds that the festival itself is on, meaning those who participate can get a precursor to Grassroots. The first night serves as a kickoff for the camp and festival alike, with Jim Lauderdale and The Game Changers coming from Nashville, Tennessee to perform for the first themed dinner and dance, Honky-Tonk Night. Not playing at the festival this year, their performance at Culture Camp is an exclusive one.

Cajun Night, New Orleans Dance Hall Night, and Zydeco Night are to follow Honky-Tonk Night. Giving an authentic feel for multiple styles of music, the themes allow attendees to get a literal and metaphorical taste of different cultures.

“It feels like throwing an educational party, we really get to create a sense of community among everyone. Getting to share ideas and knowledge and experiences with other musicians and people from all walks of life makes it feel like you’re really becoming part of a family.”

No sign-ups for workshops are needed, tickets can be found on the Grassroots Festival website here with options for various levels of participation.
